Be part of 'Scratch My Back' Remix 'Not One Of Us'
Peter Gabriel's 'Not One of Us' is taken from one of Q Magazine's top 100 Greatest British Albums. Produced by Steve Lillywhite, this album of May 1980 features Jerry Marotta and Phil Collins drumming, the guitar of Robert Fripp, David Rhodes, Paul Weller and XTC's Dave Gregory. The album produced the 1980 hit single "Games Without Frontiers", and the anthemic "Biko".
'Not One Of Us' is made available here as part of Peter's 'Scratch My Back' project of reciprocal covers. On the record of the same name Peter has covered 'The Book of Love' by The Magnetic Fields, in return Stephin Merritt of The Magnetic fields chose to cover 'Not One Of Us'. In the spirit of the project Peter is making his original version available to the wider world here on Real World Remixed.
Remixes of 'Not One Of Us' will be part of a competition - details of which we can't yet reveal.
First 'Scratch My Back Double A-Side is out

Peter Gabriel's cover of 'The Book of Love' and Stephin Merritt's of The Magnetic Fields' reciprocal cover of 'Not One Of Us' are released today as a 'Digital 45' on iTunes.
It should be in all iTunes stores, but the method of linking internationally seems to be eluding us at present. We've added a couple of links, but a search elsewhere on 'the book of love / Not one Of Us' should get you there.

With mixes for previous tracks, like these recent 'Hotpicks' of Shock The Monkey and 'Games Without Frontiers', what can we expect when 'Not One Of Us' goes up on the full moon?

Charlie Winston's 'Like a Hobo' Available to Remix at realworldremixed.com
We have been a little slow in making updates to Real World Remixed recently, but that's about to change. We've added a new sample pack today, Charlie Winston's 'Hobo', one of the biggest hits of last summer in France, and that's just the start of a flurry of activity.
Coming up in the next few weeks we are going to have the first in a new series of packs and competitions from Peter Gabriel.
'Not One of Us' will be made available here at the same time as it is released as the first 'double a-side' from his collaborative 'Scratch My Back' project.
The 'double a-side' will see Peter's cover of The Magnetic Fields song 'The Book of Love' and their, or more precisely Stephin Merritt's version of 'Not One of Us' released as the first pair of songs from 'Scratch My Back'
More details will be coming soon, particularly on the competition. In the meantime, we hope you like Charlie Winston's 'Hobo'
"The gorgeous Like a Hobo - a No 1 single in France - goes the whole pensive hog, with minor chords and whistling, while Tongue-Tied, a flirtation with jazz that's partly sung in Suffolk-accented French, is a showcase for Winston's excellent band. A worthy contender for la petite sensation de 2010 in the UK." The Guardian

One of the greatest Christmas albums I've ever heard - Solomon Burke
It's the time of year when when The Blind Boys of Alabama's 'Go Tell It On The Mountain" comes into it's own.
As the great Clarence Fountain says in this film about the making of the album "Buy this CD and it will bring you joy"
With guest appearances from with genre-crossing guest vocal appearances by Solomon Burke, George Clinton, Michael Franti, Chrissie Hynde, Shelby Lynne, Les McCann, Me'Shell NdegéOcello, Aaron Neville, Mavis Staples, and Tom Waits you know it's going to be something special.
